Sporting Opportunities

EVENTS CALENDAR - INTERSCHOOL

Throughout the year we have a large number of inter-school sporting events.  These are either Marlborough regional events, Seddon School events or Seddon/Ward combined events. They include:

• Athletics

• Swimming

• Cross Country

• Mountain Bike Madness

• Year 7 & 8 Interschool Sports Days

We also have a range of in school taster days and coaching sessions from basketball, softball, rugby, tennis and netball to name a few.  Teachers are offered these throughout the year for our classes and more often than not we take the opportunities for our learners.

HOCKEY

Hockey is incredibly strong at Seddon School and we generally have teams from Year 3 - 8.  We have amazing parent coaches and managers who do a fabulous job with our students.  Trainings are either held at lunch-time or straight after school depending on coach availability.  Games are generally on weeknights at the Hockey Turf in Blenheim

NETBALL (CLUB SPORT NOT SCHOOL SPORT)

Netball is becoming much strong here in Seddon.  This year we had teams in all age categories from Year 3 - 8.  Our teachers and parents do our coaching and students play either on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. at the main netball courts.

BASKETBALL

Each year we tend to enter a few basketball teams in the Term 3 competitions.  These are coached either by teachers or parents and trainings are held during lunch breaks.  Games tend to be on weeknights.

RUGBY (CLUB SPORT NOT SCHOOL SPORT)

Seddon School itself does not put in rugby teams - however the local Awatere JAB is incredibly strong and has multiple teams in all age bands.  Trainings are after school and games are on Saturdays.

TOUCH

We have a number of touch teams who enter the competition each year.  Our parents manage and coach these teams.  Games are at different times and coaching tends to be after school.

SOFTBALL / T-BALL

Our softabll and t-ball is becoming more popular.  We have sometimes entered school teams if there has been enough interest - otherwise students go into the Softball Association muster days and join teams in there.  We advertise this through our newsletters.
