SITE : CHARKOP SECTOR 5
SITE CONTEXT
SITE PLAN
The shrine is located on a curved footpath in Charkop Sector 5. The site features a metal-enclosed shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, along with a Vachnalay, where people stand and read newspapers. Benches are available for seating on both sides of the footpath. Behind the shrine, separated by a wall, stands a residential building. A flower vendor is situated at the curve of the footpath.

COLLAGE
Collage 1:
Collage showcases the organization of programmatic spaces, where the tarpaulin roof adapts to the footpath and wall bends. This interaction creates a dynamic sense of bending within the space, reinforcing spatial fluidity and seamlessly integrating the structure with its surroundings while responding to the site's natural conditions. Also the collage convey the materiality of the site
Collage 2:
The collage shows how the space bends, including the wall, footpath, and how people move through it. It highlights the spatial flow and interactions within the space. Both collages also capture the materials used on-site, giving a sense of the environment and its connection to the design.
Showing Bending as the syntax of the space
CONTEXT MODEL
DESIGN ITERATIONS
The syntax of the site I was working on revolved around bends. Various types of bends already existed, such as the curved footpath, the curved wall, and even the movement of people, which bent around obstructions on the footpath. I focused on the vertical element wall and applied strategies like bends and twists. I imagined the wall’s surface as being composed of repeating linear elements forming a plane. In my first iteration, I used skewers, removed a layer from the wall, and bent it to create seating, a roof, an enclosure, and a space for the Vachnalay. My idea was the wall itself becomes seating, roof, encloser and a space for the shrine and flower vendor
