Meet Gala
While observing the public infrastructure along Eksar Road in Borivali, Mumbai, I encountered a unique situation: a bus stop seemingly integrated into the veranda of a small house positioned at the outskirts of Eksar Village. The homeowner not only resided there but also operated a newspaper stand and a small shop (tapri) adjacent to their residence. This intriguing setup inspired my design concept. I pondered whether a veranda could serve as a functional bus stop on its own. My design goal then became clear: to create a space that accommodates the various activities of the homeowner while providing opportunities for public interaction. Additionally, I aimed to harmoniously integrate my design with the two trees surrounding the house. This project aspired to blend the private and public realms, turning a veranda into a multifunctional hub that fosters community engagement while preserving the essence of the place.Â
