The urban living room is a design approach to the site which acts as a waiting area transforming into community space at night. The design revolves around the breaking down spaces, creating a common between the indoor and outdoor.
Observing a wall that stands alone creates a space on a single axis that instils a sense of safety and security.
The question arises:
"How does a wall function as an enclosure?"
Selection of an element (module) creates various voids in the wall, making it more porous.
Drawing syntax.
Experimenting with the mass.
Proposed plan for the urban living room.
The walls feature varying heights and densities with recesses on the interior and exterior.
On these walls, modular "furniture" has been installed, creating niches and rendering the space functional, akin to a waiting room. The differing heights of the modules foster diverse interactions.
In the morning, these modules serve as a waiting area in an office setting, transforming into an intimate space for residential communities in the evening. Some of them offer shelter to individuals in need, providing spaces for overnight rest.
