A montage is a series of short shots edited into a sequence to condense space, time, and information. It is commonly used to show a character improving at something or becoming prepared for something along with an inspirational music track that crescendos when the character has become ready for whatever their challenge may be. Montages have become somewhat overused and cliched in film even parodied like the South Park Montage sequence.
For this project, students will work in small groups to produce a 1-2 minute montage.
The montage will follow a modified "Hero's Journey."
The first shots should show the protagonist failing at something in their Ordinary World. This failure will be the inciting Incident that causes them to cross the threshold into the Extraordinary World., where they meet a mentor, guides them through a series of tests.

"Montage" is a song by DVDA featured in the Season Six the episode "Asspen", where it is played over a montage of Stan Marsh learning how to ski. The lyrics of the song describe what a montage is and why it is often used as a device in films, to the rhythm of 1980s pop songs.
