Luree Scott Russo is a writer, performer, and educator from San Diego, CA. Always an enthusiast for her hometown, she is excited to be teaching Rediscover San Diego! She graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor’s in both Theatre/Performance Arts and English, as well as UC Riverside with a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, with an emphasis in Fiction. She specializes in sci-fi, fantasy, magical realism, and horror. Her short stories have been published in The Alcalá Review, Grande Dame Literary, Longleaf Review, The Quarter(ly), and more. Her most recently published story appears in Bayonet Books’ 2025 anthology Savage Hunt.
Before joining SDCCE, she worked as an animal educator and tour guide at SeaWorld San Diego, where her favorite activity was leading tours onto the ice and helping guests meet with penguins! When she isn’t working, you’ll find her watching wildlife documentaries, visiting the local library, playing board, card, and video games, as well as reading and writing of course. She and her husband also love playing with their dog, Slinky.
