Zoom information for Spring 2024
Finding your Zoom class
There are multiple Zoom sessions for Brain Fitness students. You are welcome to attend any of these sessions for your class (basics or topics). If you like, attend more than one to hear a different perspective on that week's lesson.
This page has 3 different places to find the Zoom information for classes. Each of these will give you the same link.
Look under the heading Basics and Topics Sessions at a glance. Locate your day and time and click on your instructor. Click on the link to get started.
Midway down the page you will find the calendar. Find the day and time that you want to join a Zoom and click on the name of the instructor. You will see a link to their room.
Near the bottom of the page is a section which provides details on each instructor's days, times and Zoom rooms. This is arranged in days and times, and provides all of the information on each of the Zoom rooms.
Important note: Passcode may be required
Zoom may ask you for the passcode for the Zoom classroom even if you used the link with the passcode embedded. Here is a list of the different passcodes:

Zoom: The basics, joining from your phone and using Zoom for the first time
Zoom Basics
Zoom is a relatively easy program to use. There is a link to the Zoom room (which you can find in the calendar by clicking on the individual class). This link will open a page in your browser which will ask your permission to use the Zoom app. The first time that you use Zoom, you will be asked to download the Zoom software, if you don't already have it. When you download the program once, you will not have to do it again on your computer.
Zoom can then be accessed via the link or by clicking on the app and including the meeting ID and password.
NOTE: Some people who do not have a webcam or microphone, but would like to be able to communicate with the class. In this case, you can call in using one of the phone numbers under your session. You can then view the video on your computer and hear and respond via your phone.
Do you have a mobile device? Then go to the app store and download the free Zoom app and set it up. Then, when you click on the link for your session, it will automatically open in the app. Or, just as easy, open the app and tap join a meeting, then add the meeting ID.
For instructions on joining a specific Zoom session, please see the options above the video instructions.
Remember, it is optional to join our Zoom meetings. We hope you do, but if you don't, we hope you will enjoy the lesson and videos each week.
Joining Zoom from your phone
Following are detailed instructions for joining by phone only, in case you would like to read through them:
Dial an in-country number. If you dial a toll number, your carrier rates will apply. You can find the numbers on your meeting invitation or a full list of international dial-in numbers at https://zoom.us/zoomconference.
You will be prompted to enter the meeting ID - the nine (9), ten (10), or eleven (11) digit ID provided to you by the host, followed by #.
If the meeting has not already started and join before host is not enabled, you will be prompted to enter the host key to start the meeting. Since you are not host, press # to wait if you are participant.
You will be prompted to enter your unique participant ID. This only applies if you have joined on the computer or mobile device or are a panelist in a webinar. Press # to skip.
To disconnect from the meeting, just hang up your phone.
Using Zoom for the first time
Zoom is a program that you will download. If you are using a computer, you will be prompted the first time you connect to download this program. After that, it will always open when you click on the Zoom link.
To join a Zoom session, you would first click on the Zoom link, such as our Wednesday night link: ( https://sdccd-edu.zoom.us/j/9191959460?pwd=OXh0RE9ZTVZTWElTMUQ0ZzAxQzExdz09)
9191959460 is the room number
Following the ? in the address above is the password (pwd=OXh0RE9ZTVZTWElTMUQ0ZzAxQzExdz09)
Clicking on the entire link with the password encoded will get you to the Zoom screen
Click Launch Meeting and agree to add an app if it asks
Entering just the room number may require a passcode.
Each instructor has a different room number and password/passcode.
If you have a webcam with a microphone, select "computer audio".
If you do not have a webcam and/or a way to communicate via your computer, click phone call, where you will see a phone number to call on your device and your participant ID. Call in with your phone, and then click "done" on the screen. You will then be connected via webcam and your phone.
If you do not have a webcam or microphone, you can call in (via your phone) . To do this, see below (General instructions for Joining by phone)
If you want to use an Android or iPad tablet to join us, you will go to the App store and download the free Zoom app. The app is available in Google Play and in the Apple App store. After, when you click on the link it will automatically open in the app. Or, you can open the app and tap join a meeting, then add the meeting ID.
For additional instructions on using Zoom in an iPad or mobile device, see tutorials below. There are a few differences, so we do recommend you view these videos if you are using a mobile phone.
