Abstract

Playing online games is popular among college students. Cognitive and negative consequences have been studied frequently. However, little is known about the influence of gaming behavior on social. One hundred fifty college student participants answered Self-Consciousness Scale--(SCS-R) and Online Gaming Behavior Test. Participants were grouped by sex and their age. This study hypothesized that there's no significance relationship gaming behavior and social anxiety. Pearson analyses shows that there's no significance relationship between gaming behavior and social anxiety. The results of this study add to previous research in the field self-consciousness on a small scale. Further research in the area is needed for a more complete understanding of how different kinds of online gaming affect social anxiety.
