Supporting Literacy Instruction in Special Education

Hi Parents! The Special Education Department wanted to share some tips to support you in helping your children with literacy instruction! Please reach out if you have any questions.

Ways to Support

• Read with your child each night.

• Have your child draw a picture to tell you or another family member about the story they read or listened to.

• Make reading fun and connect their reading to real world examples!

• Ask your child questions! Example: What did you learn? What were you thinking about as you read the story or the teacher read it to you? Click here for more examples.
