During the 2023-2024 school year, our K-5 ELA Task Force and K-5 teacher teams engaged in piloting and reviewing core programs for ELA. After final review by the taskforce, feedback from the teachers, and the 60 day public review, the following program was presented for approved to our Board for implementation beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.

Designed for comprehensive early literacy development
DIBELS 8th Edition focuses on foundational reading skills and comprehension through short, one-minute measures. Text Reading and Comprehension drills deep into how students make meaning from text, utilizes an authentic text library, and helps determine reading levels. mCLASS’s dyslexia measures, used in conjunction with DIBELS 8th Edition, provide additional screening for dyslexia risk.
mCLASS’s teacher-administered DIBELS 8th Edition is a set of short (one-minute) fluency measures that can be used for universal screening, benchmark assessment, and progress monitoring in Kindergarten to 8th grade. DIBELS 8th Edition provides educators with standards for gauging the status and progress of all students.

FCRR Center Activities
From 2004 to 2010, a team of researchers and teachers at FCRR collected ideas and created Student Center Activities for use in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms. The activities are designed for students to practice, demonstrate, and extend their learning of what has already been taught, sometimes with teacher assistance and sometimes independently. Students can complete the activities in small groups, pairs, or individually.
