For art, you need 1.5 credits or 6 classes to fulfill this requirement. Credits may be earned in visual arts, music, dance, theater, and/or media arts for this requirement these are usually fun classes. Here is a list of courses available at Horizonte:
Remember courses will vary depending on the school you are attending. If you attended a high school in Utah, in another state, or outside of the United States and you earned credits or certifications in visual arts, music, dance, theater, and/or media arts be sure to bring those transcripts to review which courses you can get credits for. Any credits over the requirement can be applied to your elective credits area.
Please note that even though these classes are fun that does not mean they don’t require time and effort. Art Foundation covers the history of art as well as the foundation of drawing. There are usually projects that you will have to complete to earn credits. Courses at Horizonte for drawing use videos to teach students how to draw. Materials to complete projects will be provided. Our introduction to commercial art teaches students how to create art for advertisement. In addition to online courses, some Art courses are available through the packet program. See your counselor, enrollment staff, or directed studies teacher.
