National Hispanic Month
All of the art above and more was included in a video presentation recognizing National Hispanic Month, presented in PS 008 during the day and offered to parents and the community during the Family Night Arts Event held October 15 and 16. In addition to the representative works seen above, our 2nd, 4th, and 5th Grade Art Clubs also produced three very large paper serapes to decorate the front of the stage for the live concert and dance show that was a part of the event (see below)
Our kindergarten students collaged colorful monsters using basic shapes that they learned to identify. Everyone's monster was different, projecting it's maker's creative personality.
Our self-contained kindergarten students painted color monsters designed to help students identify and cope with their feelings. They learned color can suggest different moods.
Second grade students in self-contained classes learned to collage a PS 008 Lion Mascot (left) and a Fall Harvest Sunflower (right) using colored papers and oil pastels.
