TEXTURED OWL COLLAGE
Our youngest Art students learned texture is the way something feels. They collaged an owl full of actual texture. Bodies were made from torn fluffy pieces of brown and gray-colored papers layered upon each other. Large eyes were created with folded, colored, candy paper wrappers, which popped wide open and featured soft foam, colored circle centers for irises, and black marker pupils. Beaks and feet were produced with smooth orange construction paper.
In celebration of Memorial Day, students learned to draw Liberty, which stands for freedom in America, a concept for which our war heroes gave their lives.
Students drew Liberty's portrait and learned to work with colored chalk pastels to bring her to life as she looks today.
Capturing a moment in colored pencils or crayons, second graders realistically drew and colored a variety of birds of their choice. They learned a few coloring techniques to help blend colors together in a realistic way and to fill an entire page with color.
REALISTIC STILL LIFE ART
Fruit Bowls and Flower Bouquets
Fifth graders learned a variety of colored pencil techniques. They also learned how to represent form by being aware of a light source in their drawings in order to achieve realism. After practice sketches and worksheets were completed, students chose to draw and color either a flower bouquet or fruit bowl to demonstrate what they had learned in a work of art.
Congratulations students!!!
