How to write an artist statement

What is an Artist Statement?

1. A short piece of informative writing by the artist.

2. A way for the artist to explain their process and vision for their work.

3. Helps the viewer understand why you made what you did and why.

​4. Gives the viewer insight into your artistic style (perhaps your whole body of work).

​5. It is NOT a reflection on your feelings about the success of your work.
