Unit 5

Unit 5 - General Biology

Essential Question - "Should we clone a human being?"

This unit of study will continue the main concepts of Genetics and introduce the molecule of inheritance, DNA. In addition to the study of the STRUCTURE and FUNCTION of DNA, students will also learn to apply this information to the field of BIOTECHNOLOGY. Students will investigate how a molecule of DNA is constructed into units called NUCLEOTIDES and how these nucleotides are constructed from DEOXYRIBOSE SUGAR, PHOSPHATE and a nitrogen containing BASE (A-T; G=C) and how the sequence of these nucleotides provide a code that determines human PROTEIN!

Please use the following course sequence as we progress through this unit. Each Unit is broken down into modules. Each module contains either a link or an attachment that can provide you with all of the materials that are presented in the classroom.
