After you have chosen your topic and completed your planning sheet, then you are ready to begin writing! As you begin, think about WHO you are writing your book for!
What questions would your reader want answered when reading your book?
Each home learning day, students should spend about 20 minutes writing. This early in the year, writing can be a challenge for emerging writers. However, it is very important that students are given the opportunity to:
Tap out words and write letters for the sounds that they hear.
Draw pictures to go with their stories.
***It is important to remember and expect that students are not all writing lowercase/uppercase in the correct places, nor are they including capitals and punctuation, but these things will come with time.
The most important thing is providing space and time to write!
