Travelling to and from your home district to Lloydminster is referred to as "External Transportation" in Games lingo. This transportation is provided to all Districts, aside from the host District (Rivers West). All athletes, coaches, and managers are expected to travel on the District Team coach bus. Important information related to External Transportation, including specific times and locations, will be provided to coaches and managers by the Chef de Mission prior to the Games. Please watch your email for this information as the Games approach.
District Team participants will depart from a central location within their home District. Each District's Chef de Mission will communicate specific departure times and locations to their coaches and managers.
Coach & Manager Responsibilities:
Contact mission staff or Chef de Mission of any incidents, accidents or delays while traveling on bus. 📃 View Safe Travel Policy
Contact your designated Mission Staff to confirm all athletes have arrived and are on bus prior to departure
Coaches/Managers must ride the bus with their athletes
Remind your team members to bring a nut-free packed lunch, snacks, and water for the bus trip
Upon arrival at the Athletes' Village, participants will be given their accreditation tag by their Mission Staff. Athletes, coaches and managers will unload their luggage and equipment and first take their equipment to the District storage seacan. The participants will then take their luggage and enter through the front main entrance, where Games Ambassadors will show teams to their rooms and provide an orientation/tour of the Athletes' Village to each District upon arrival. It is very important all bags be tagged with the athlete’s name, sport and District.
The Information Center located in the main office will handle the replacement of all lost accreditation. Some sports will have a practice on the day they arrive (this might change the schedule below for your team).
Example Timeline
2:30 PM - Arrive in Lloydminster
3:00 PM - Athletes' Village Tour
5:00 PM - Supper (Scheduled to avoid congestion)
6:00 PM - Bus from Athletes' Village to Exhibition Grounds (ONLY July 21, 2024)

On move-out day (Wednesday, July 24 or Saturday, July 27) participants must exit their rooms by 9:00 AM. Room keys will be returned to their coaches and managers who will then return them to their mission staff. Luggage will be placed in District seacans until it is ready to be loaded onto each District's coach bus.Â
Any athletes not returning home on the bus must have a permission form signed by parent/guardian. These forms will be available by request from your mission staff.
As there will still be competitions taking place throughout Wednesday and Saturday of the Games, it is important that participants pack what they will need for the day in their backpack or with their sport equipment. All participants will return to the Athletes' Village after their sport competition is complete in order to load the buses and get ready for departure.Â
Second half (July 24-27) participants will go from the Athletes' Village to the Closing Ceremonies. Once the Closing Ceremonies have finished, they will load back onto their bus and depart for home.
