The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will take place at the start and end of the Games, respectively. You will be bussed to the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds to prepare for the ceremonies.
For first half participants, the Opening Ceremonies will take place at 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 21 at the Centennial Civic Centre (5405-49 Ave, Lloydminster, SK).
Snacks will be available at Athletes' Village after the Opening Ceremonies.
For second half participants, the Closing Ceremonies will take place at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 27 at at the Centennial Civic Centre (5405-49 Ave, Lloydminster, SK).
All athletes, coaches, managers, and officials are required to participate in the athlete parade at either the Opening or Closing Ceremonies, depending on which half of the Games they are participating in. Sport teams will be guided to assemble with their respective District Teams in the holding area and will be provided a light snack prior to the Ceremony. Athletes, coaches and managers will wear their ceremonial walkout uniform representing their District Team colour during the ceremonies.
Please ensure that all team members have packed and are wearing the appropriate District Team ceremonial uniform prior to the Ceremony.
Active and passive lounges are open from 7:00 – 22:30 daily. For the first half participants the new gymnasium will be available for activities throughout the day. Indoor shoes are required in the new gym. The outdoor courtyard will be an area to play outdoor games like corn hole, spikeball etc. All spaces will be monitored by volunteers. Special events for participants are being held the evenings of July 23rd and 26th .

The 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Lloydminster will also feature various Cultural Events and Workshops, supported by the Community Initiatives Fund. These events are open to the public as well as all Games participants. Check out the details below and share with any friends or family who plan to attend the Games as a spectator!
Hip Hop Dance Instructor, Stephanie Cowan, will lead this free dance workshop at Centennial Civic Centre Auditorium (2nd floor). Hip hop is considered the most accessible dance form for the general public as it does not require special shoes or special clothing. Parents or guardians are welcome to stay and view the workshop.

Local artist, Michelle Lake, will lead a guided 1 ½ hr walking tour of murals and public art installation in Lloydminster’s downtown core.

Come join us for an afternoon workshop about the art and traditions of beading. The workshops will be led by local resident Mayme Boyer. Each participant will receive a beading kit to complete a flower. No experience necessary.

Lloydminster Museum + Archives is hosting a local sports history exhibit called "Play Ball! Summer Sports in the City." You can also tour their permanent Heritage Gallery to examine the history of Lloydminster from settlement to present day. Archival photographs and historic artefacts feature the story of the Barr Colonists and early settlers. The exhibit engages with the impact that colonization had on our local Indigenous group. Family-friendly interactives have been developed to engage children while they learn about Lloydminster’s past.

Take part in heritage games and activities. Make a pennant in the Log Cabin. Sip lemonade and enjoy baking from Rendell House. Make bannock on a stick outside the Log Cabin. Tour Rendell House which is celebrated as the first timber framed residence in Lloydminster. Have a look inside the implements shed which contains working antique farm equipment and vehicles from the museum’s heritage collection. Check out the restoration projects in the Barr Colony Heritage Society Showroom.
