Location: Room 1006 at the Athletes' Village, Lloydminster Comprehensive High School
Physicians and Nurses will be present each day from 8:00-22:00.
If a medical incident occurs between 22:00-7:00, the participants will speak to the security on duty who will contact the necessary personnel that may direct them to access care at the emergency room.
Upon arrival all prescription medications must be checked in at the Polyclinic. They will be stored in a locked box or refrigerated and will be dispensed by an RN. Any medication that is required to be on you (such as epi pens, inhalers etc) is permitted to be kept in the participants care.
Your District Team mission staff will have a copy of athletes that require medication storage. Please ensure that parents enter detailed information about their child's medication(s) when registering online using GEMS.pro.
Any athlete ruled "out of play" will be determined by the Chief Medical Officer. Only the CMO can designate if an athlete may return to play.
The Medical Services Division will provide first-line medical care to athletes, coaches, officials, and mission staff, free of charge. Medical services will be provided through the Polyclinic and at all competition venues. The Polyclinic will provide basic medical care and therapies.
Sport-appropriate medical coverage will be provided at each venue and medical volunteers can be identified by red volunteer shirts. Depending on the level of coverage required for each sport, coverage may include assessment and primary first aid care, taping modification or reinforcement, taping for acute injury, and taping between competitions at the discretion of the therapist treating the athlete.
If more extensive treatment is needed, participants will be referred and/or transported to the Athletes' Village Polyclinic for continuation of treatment services. For emergency medical treatment, participants will be transported via EMS to the nearest acute care hospital.
Sign ups will be available for athletes to receive taping services. Athletes must bring their own tape for existing injuries/treatment. Tape is provided for injuries happening at the Games. There will be no taping services at venues.
Ice is available at the Polyclinic and at all sport venues.
Any athlete removed from play and evaluated for a suspected concussion will not be permitted to return to play the same day. If the athlete is subsequently diagnosed with a concussion upon further evaluation, they will not be permitted to return to competition during the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games.
The Saskatchewan Games Council and the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games Host Organizing Committee have established procedures and guidelines to help mitigate the spread of infectious diseases.
