Events
Candidates must attend all football season events, including but not limited to:
Mini Camp (for your chosen Auxiliary team)
Band Camp (includes Kennywood Parade)
ALL Fall Parades
ALL Football games (both home and away)
ALL Band Festivals
All Playoff Football Games (if applicable)
Auxiliary Camp
Practices
2-3 times per week after-school during the varsity football season. Sponsors do their best to schedule practices at convenient times but flexibility is limited by space availability.
Performances
All home and away varsity football games, fall parades, and festivals.
Events
Candidates must also attend all Indoor Season events, including but not limited to:
Additional choreography practices
Half-time performances at Shaler Area sporting events (if applicable)
Local competition circuit as determined by Sponsor and Directors
Community Events
Talent Show
Performing Arts Department Trip (and all preparation for such)
Any additional parades (i.e., Memorial Day)

Performances
Sporting events, local competitions, talent show and Performing Arts Department Trip.
You must be able to attend all team functions as listed above. Absences must be reported to the sponsor by phone, email, or in person followed by a written excuse within one week prior. Work is not an excused absence. Consistently arriving late or leaving early will be considered an absence. An uncommunicated absence during the season will result in having to attend and dress, but not perform at the following event. Absence from any performance must be cleared through the sponsor AND assistant band director with no exceptions.
Two un-communicated absences at practice can result in disciplinary action – which can include not participating in the following event.
Three unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the squad. Disciplinary actions will be handled on an individual basis by the directors, staff, and SAHS Administration.
School policies regarding maintenance of grades and drug/alcohol use will be strictly enforced. Pursuant to School Board Policy 123.2 (Academic Eligibility): “All [Marching Band participants’] grades will be analyzed each Friday during the season. Students with grades below 69.50% in any class (for that grading period) will be listed and given to the [participant’s] respective Sponsor. Additionally, these students will be recommended for tutoring during a study hall or the after school monitored study sessions.
Students with two grades below 59.49% will be determined to be ineligible for the following week of play regardless of grade point average, and must attend tutoring sessions each day, regardless of practice times or contests.
Students with only one grade below 59.49% will maintain their eligibility, but must attend tutoring sessions throughout the entire following week, either during a study hall or the after school monitored study sessions. If the aforementioned [participant] raises their grade(s) above 59.49% the following week, they no longer have to attend tutoring sessions, and regain their eligibility. A student who fails to raise their grade(s) will remain ineligible.
There is no warning period, and ineligibility (not allowed to participate in performances) will run Sunday to Sunday.”
Summer band camp is Monday, July 28, 2025- Friday, August 8, 2025. All members MUST attend.
Rookie Camp for all new members will take place on Wednesday, July 23 from 8 am to 12 pm.
Team Specific Summer Camps: Dates, times, and locations will be determined. Sponsors will communicate this information as soon as possible.
Marching Band Auxiliaries are school sanctioned activities; therefore, all District and High School policies including the Student Code of Conduct will apply to all members.
