3.1 Creating. Candidates create instructional design products based on learning principles and research-based best practices.
My instructional design was used at a professional development workshop, but I created and designed the site following the principles of How People Learn.
3.2 Using. Candidates make professionally sound decisions in selecting appropriate processes and resources to provide optimal conditions for learning based on principles, theories, and effective practices.
My curriculum project was geared towards student-centered learning, as well as students having a choice in their learning. Students had access to authentic learning materials, options on how they felt they could best learn vocabulary, and flexible deadlines.
3.3 Assessing/Evaluating. Candidates use multiple assessment strategies to collect data for informing decisions to improve instructional practice, learner outcomes, and the learning environment.
My multimedia eLearning environment incorporated a variety of assessment strategies. As it was a learning environment for students studying French, they had many (different) formative assessments, as well as a final summative assessment. Because this was a flipped lesson, it allowed for more face-to-face conferences during class.
3.4 Managing. Candidates establish mechanisms for maintaining the technology infrastructure to improve learning and performance.
The technology plan designed for Salesianum School focused on increasing the comfortability of integrating educational technology into lessons.
3.5 Ethics. Candidates foster a learning environment in which ethics guide practice that promotes health, safety, best practice, and respect for copyright, Fair Use, and appropriate open access to resources.
3.6 Diversity of Learners. Candidates foster a learning community that empowers learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities
The media used throughout the creation of my multimedia eLearning environment respects copyright and Fair Use. The learning environment is a flipped lesson interestingly on safety in wildlife parks. Because of the variety of media and assessments, all students have a chance to succeed through the unit.
