Content Knowledge

1. Content Knowledge. Candidates demonstrate the knowledge necessary to create, use, assess, and manage theoretical and practical applications of educational technologies and processes.

1.1 Creating. Candidates demonstrate the ability to create instructional materials and learning environments using a variety of systems approaches.

Throughout my studies, I was introduced to a variety of technology. Attending the optional class meetings with Dr. Fred regularly gave me access to new tools and new(er) methods on how to meaningfully implement educational technology. In my multimedia eLearning environment, I used a variety of applications to meet the needs of my students. Using technology, I am able to differentiate instruction. The eLearning environment I created is self-paced, which allowed me to "flip my classroom" and conference with my students frequently.

1.2 Using. Candidates demonstrate the ability to select and use technological resources and processes to support student learning and to enhance their pedagogy.

It should be evident that in the year 2019 students should not be learning the same as they did in 2000. My needs assessment proposed the implementation and identified the benefits of flexible learning environments. Users often speak of 21st century learning, and we are 19 years into the 21st century!

1.3 Assessing/Evaluating. Candidates demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate the effective integration of appropriate technologies and instructional materials.

Technology is ever changing! When I designed my curriculum project, I thought that it was perfect, and I loved the final product. But as I actually implemented the lesson (a somewhat self-paced book study), I found that I was regularly making tweaks to accommodate the needs of my students.

1.4 Managing. Candidates demonstrate the ability to effectively manage people, processes, physical infrastructures, and financial resources to achieve predetermined goals.

1.5 Ethics. Candidates demonstrate the contemporary professional ethics of the field as defined and developed by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology.

The technology plan (AKA the professional development redesign) put teachers first and valued their time by providing the necessary training and knowledge for effective integration of iPad into lessons.
