Content Pedagogy

2. Content Pedagogy. Candidates develop as reflective practitioners able to demonstrate effective implementation of educational technologies and processes based on contemporary content and pedagogy.

2.1 Creating. Candidates apply content pedagogy to create appropriate applications of processes and technologies to improve learning and performance outcomes.

When I designed my curriculum project, I selected a specific structure that was repetitive for reach chapter of the somewhat self-paced book study. As I actually implemented the lesson, I found that I was regularly making tweaks and offering students more choice in how they were studying the book.

2.2 Using. Candidates implement appropriate educational technologies and processes based on appropriate content pedagogy.

My instructional design was used at Salesianum School when we switched over from Microsoft Outlook to Gmail. I led a professional development with a variety of users present. Some were ready to "fly" and wanted to learn about more advanced tricks, and others needed more time to review the materials. The Google site that was created allowed users to move through modules to learn at their own pace.

2.3 Assessing/Evaluating. Candidates demonstrate an inquiry process that assesses the adequacy of learning and evaluates the instruction and implementation of educational technologies and processes grounded in reflective practice.

My needs assessment addresses the advancements in 21st century learning, and how the roles of teacher and student are changing. The teacher is no longer the center of the class, and the class may not actually meet in a classroom. With flexible learning spaces, virtual classrooms, and blended learning opportunities, students have a higher chance of succeeding.

2.4 Managing. Candidates manage appropriate technological processes and resources to provide supportive learning communities, create flexible and diverse learning environments, and develop and demonstrate appropriate content pedagogy.

When I presented my instructional design at Salesianum School, not all faculty/staff were presented. The way in which I designed this site allowed users to learn at their own pace even if they weren't present for the workshop. This offered basic review of the G Suite tools, as well as advanced settings if users felt more confident.

2.5 Ethics. Candidates design and select media, technology, and processes that emphasize the diversity of our society as a multicultural community.
