Learn the real work applications for STEM skills in rocketry
Subject Overview
In this subject, students will work independently and in small groups to conduct multiple investigations using rockets.
Students will undertake engineering tasks to build bottle and model rockets and use problem solving to test ideas about rocket flight.
Students will investigate the forces impacting rockets including thrust, mass, drag, environmental conditions, centre of mass, centre of pressure, and fin size and shape. Students will learn to record accurate data measurements both manually and digitally using specialised electronic equipment.
Students will develop mathematics skills including trigonometry, calculations for area, volume and distance, and use these to measure and compare rocket flights.
