Skillset: Illustration, Digital painting, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Illustrator, Adobe XD
I'm a Graphic Design student at SAE with a passion for illustrating, research and weightlifting. This trimester we worked on many projects which involved running an Instagram account, creating campaigns for other brand's and collaborating with students from other disciplines. During this tri, I gained many new skills, Digital painting and After Effects to name a few. I'm a very organised worker and always make sure all my work is completed on time and to the best standard that I can produce.
To create an advertising campaign for a chosen brand (Nando's Peri Peri sauce) and focusing on aiming it towards the brand's target audience. Research on the brand's personality, history and following the style guide were required to complete the project. Final deliverables included posters, mockups of stands, stalls or aisles and a campaign snapshot.
The first few drafts focused on showing the flavours within the Nando's Peri Peri sauce. I wanted to show that the sauce itself is not just plain old peri peri but instead something more.
From the sketches I started to put together some digital posters. I explored with some colours that were used in Nando's ads and I created some chilli's using the lasso tool. At this stage, I was focused on placing my slogan in an appropriate position.
The final posters consisted of chilli's, lemons and herbs that were illustrated, they were created with the lasso tool. The text was liquified to give the appearance that it was coming out of the steam from the bottle. The background colours were chosen based on the flavouring of the peri peri sauce, red for plain peri peri and green for lemon and herb.
To create an Instagram campaign by posing as a fictional character (The Queen of Hearts) and running a start up business (Jeweller). The main focus was to adapt the campaign for a specific audience. My campaign focused on valentine's day and involved followers sharing posts onto their stories and tagging the account and their own valentine to go into a draw to win a high quality one of a kind jewellery piece.
Because the brand was created by the Queen of Hearts and consisted of having a focus of jewellery , I wanted to create a connection between the two. All my designs of the logo consisted of hearts made out of a gemstone. In my final I added a crown to make the connection to the Queen of Hearts clearer.
My sketches of jewellery designs were important as they showed the process of creation to the audience. Many followers can find interest in seeing how a product is produced and I wanted to show that. All these sketches were created on Photoshop and produced using digital painting.
My posting plan was created on Illustrator and was used as a general guide to identify which post would be uploaded next onto the account. It also was used to help keep consistency with the theme of the accounts aesthetic.
The final result of the account with all twelve posts. The aesthetic is consistent with colours of pinks, whites and reds. There was a blend of reveal photography, process art and spacing posts to help keep things ordered and organised.
Collaborating with an audio student, we created album covers which best fit into the theme, genre and message of their music. We followed a brief that the audio student had written themselves that gave us a general guide of what they were after. The title of the album that I worked on was called "Whisper In The Dark" by Ben Else.
The client wanted an album that was dark and moody. They also liked the idea of having some sort of light that blended into the background. Another feature that was requested was to have the name Ben written as B3N and to be placed in a corner in a small font size.
After receiving feedback on the most preferable design, I created a mockup of the work. What I found quite interesting was that despite this final design not following what the client originally wanted, they chose it anyway. As said by the audio student themselves, "The one I love is the one that I don’t think I had anything to do with, the red one with the blossoming flower kind of pattern? It looks so cool! it’s really awesome to see someone else’s visual interpretation of music I’ve made"
