Yagan Tower Project | Mermaid Princess

Specialising in CG character art, I've created a video tailoring towards the unique aspects of the Yagan Tower. My main focus was to build the character, the mermaid princess Lana, from scratch through the production pipeline. I created the environment and fish surrounding her, and with the help of classmates, I brought her to life with some animation and audio.

On the Yagan Tower, we only see about a 3rd of the scene at a time due to the nature of the cylinder, keeping this in mind is vital for the video composition, along with constructing a method to ensure it does not have a seam.

Lana the Mermaid Princess Characteristics:

Relationships & Family

The perfect daughter and loving big sister, Lana lives to people-please, often at her own detriment in the past. However as she's grown older, she's been able to nurture her self confidence, allowing herself to be pleasurable to her parents and siblings, however also managing her expectations of herself. The merfolk she is to wed, she gets along with well, with himself having similar ideologies surrounding duty, therefore she is hoping for a long and happy marriage.

Character Story and Development

Lana is currently arranged to become betrothed to the prince of a nearby clan, and during the animation sequence we are able to view her in a waiting chamber to meet the prince for the first time. Nervous, but excited, Lana tries to maintain an outwardly calm appearance.

Scene

The context of the scene is that the mermaid, Lana, is a princess, waiting to meet her betrothed for the first time, before their arranged marriage. The fish around her are her little brothers and sisters, there to give her full support. Lana is nervous but excited, attempting to maintain an outwardly calm and regal appearance.
