- 3 meals per day (or equivalent in allowance for self-catering, if, for example the school does not serve breakfast / evening meal)
- Accommodation (this is different, depending on where you are placed, but it is usually a clean, well-maintained, functional flat with bathroom, living room, bedroom and self-catering facility)
- Greeting and chaperone from Beijing (Peking Airport) by a VEC representative or someone from your school
- Overnight hotel on arrival in Beijing for one or two nights, depending on arrival date
- Travel between Beijing (Peking Airport) and your school at the start and end of your contract
- Paid National holidays (equivalent to our bank holidays in the UK). There are quite a few of these. However, the main holiday period is not paid.
- Unpaid holiday (Chinese New Year – January / Feb) – often used for travel
- Holiday bonus (for some roles)
- Administrative advice and support in the UK and in China
- Mandarin lessons (in some cases this is free of charge; sometimes there may be a nominal fee should you wish to take this up more formally. We also have an online learning scheme you can use)
- External support from outside your school
