Comparing and evaluating your work is an important step to any unit. It helps your come to a conclusion and can influence your decision making as you move forward. Comparing and evaluation work can identify strength and weaknesses in your work and help develop your own work.
My inspiration poster
For 'My Inspiration Poster' I picked all these blue tone, like the ocean, because I love the beach! My intention is to include similar shapes and patterns in my model but use similar wavy curves for the outline
My design ideas
In this design idea I am focusing on the colour blue but have included some yellow and red to make the model look a bit more exciting. this wasn't my original plan and my inspiration poster only included blue tones but I wanted to test an alternative colour scheme. Yellow represents the sane and red is the ocean sunset.
My CAD design
Although I adjusted the overall shape and outline of my design compared to the design idea, I have included the symmetrical lines that represent the palm leaf spikes. however in this model they start to look more like whiskers of a pet cat which is not really my intention.
My finished product
After working through the entire project I now realise that my model has changed a lot. Once I researched the 3D printer colours and did not like the blue filament choices i decided to use yellow (for the sand) and orange (for the sunset). Red was too dark and this was a better mix. My design matches my CAd model but is quite different from my design sketch on paper.
I animated this poster on procreate and I tried to make it look realistic by adding some clearer colours to make it brighter. I am happy with the design outcomes and i think they meet the design restiction of using 3 layers and keeping a simple design. It was important for me not to over complicate the design because I like simple models.
This was my main mistake on this animated poster on procreate because I accidentally scribbled on the poster and when I was going to erase it, it didn't work so I have to be more careful next time.
This is my favourite because overall I think that the redering looks very neat espeicially the wood grain, but mainly why I like this one the most is because it's like a combination of lessons and it is not that simple and not to complicated. It also reminds me on my science class when we used test tubes and I think its good to mix and cross over things from different subjects in school.
This is Chelsea's favorite because she thinks it's looks abtract and the wood grain is detailed and very neat, she also thinks in her opinion that the shape looks very tall and would suit a green leafy plant that bushes out.
This is Mavis's torch design. It is a star. I like it a lot because the colour matches a star so there is no doubt about what is it but I think she could do better if she make the star's legs and arms more equal and considers symmetry a little more.
If I hold Mavis's design up, for the see through yellow I can see through it but purple can only see through a bit. I think her design is very interesting and a clever use of material using a mix of transparent, opaque and semi transparent plastic.
This is Kittu's torch design. I like the colour and the shape a lot. The shape is very smooth and the colour is very shiny and clean. The round edges mean it follows the design restriction (which says no sharp edges). This will be safe for children.
These are Kittu's three layers. The shapes are all the same and I think it could be better if she changed some of the layers to a different shape so it doesn't all look the simple.
This is me peeling the brown paper off. As you can see my second layer is a very dark red but I still like it. I may need to change the colours of my other colours if they don't match because I originally planned to use bright red
This is a picture of what it looks like when it is backwards.
Here's my design idea (briefly describe your design or project) Please provide detailed feedback on its strengths, weaknesses, and specific areas for improvement, considering how I have sketches the lines, my pen control outlining and how I have rendered the shadows with the colour pencils. i am not sure if my shading is dark enough of if the design has enough detail.
Please note that I am 12 years old and studing at school, please write your reply for my age and level so its easy to understand.
I've attached my (design work photo). I'm looking for criticism on the layout, text box style, color palette, and overall visual appearance of my work. Where do you think it shows strengths, and what changes would you recommend to improve the weak areas - what are the weak areas?
Please write your reply as a short paragraph no longer than 5 sentences.
Please review the outcome of my wooden shapes after cutting. I used a coping saw but i feel the line isn't that straight and as you can see in the photo there are lots of splinters. The edges are rough but I was cutting slowly even though the blade was getting stuck. Was my technique wrong or does this always happen when cutting hard wood with a coping saw?
Please reply using an info diagram of what I was doing wrong and the correct technique. A reply that is short and visual - no long text comments.
Could you evaluate my (CAD model screenshot)? I want to understand if it looks ergonomic enough to be comfortable when holding. It is a gaming controller so it will be held for long periods of time when playing. Point out any design choices that might be a problem with comfort, and suggest ways to improve the ergonomic design shape.
Please write your evaluation no longer than 4 bullet points.

What prompt do you think Ai was given to create this response below?
Strengths:
Clear Headings: Titles like "WHAT MAKES A GOOD LAMP?" are bold and immediately clarify each section's purpose.
Consistent Theme: The orange background and white text create a strong, unified visual identity.
Personalized Aesthetic: Hand-drawn sketches and annotations give it an authentic "designer's process" feel.
Effective Visual Guidance: Arrows and connecting lines skillfully link ideas and sketches, improving flow.
Informative Sketches: The conceptual drawings clearly illustrate design ideas and dimensions.
Weaknesses:
Layering Confusion: Some overlapping elements (e.g., signature, background lines) can make parts difficult to decipher.
Readability Issues: The handwritten style for body text can be hard to read quickly due to font intricacy and size.
Visual Flatness: The poster generally lacks depth and varied textures, making the overall appearance somewhat two-dimensional.
Uneven Visual Weight: Some text-heavy sections feel imbalanced compared to more concise parts.
Background Distraction: The background grid or texture sometimes competes with the white text, affecting clarity.
This is the prompt I asked Gemini to follow to make changes to my original poster. I have screenshot my prompt because I was to show clearly exactly what I asked Gemini to do.Â
Although it got most of what i wanted, I wasn't expecting the white textbox styles and it makes the overal design look like the page is divided into 4 corner zones. Although this is clear for information I feel it looks a little stiff and too controlled. I like the flow of my originbal poster.
