Portraits- Color Selection and Multiplicity

The photos above were examples of multiplicity and color selection. I used multiple photos of myself along with my brother and combine them into one picture, from there I made the photos black and white and made certain object colored like they background or a certain piece of clothing . To do all this I used photoshop. To do multiplicity I had 3 separate images, I would take the first image copy it onto the second image and then erase the first layer where the subject is at, that's how the subject would appear. You do this as many times until all the subject are on one photo. After you have created multiplicity of a certain person or object, I went to layer, flattened the image, and then turned it black and white. Once I did that, I just took a brush and colored the areas I wanted to stand out. In the first image of myself, I was sick and didn't really look so great, so instead of highlighting myself, I made the color of the fall trees pop. The second photo is my brother, I was giving him a hard time about wearing a christmas sweater when it wasn't close to christmas yet, so I specifically made him be my subject in the second photo so I could highlight his christmas sweater.

In the first photo of myself it's has certain composition and techniques like formal balance. The second photo of my brother is also formal balance but also a hint of highkey lighting. Even though the image is black and white doesn't mean the image is dark. My project didn't really evolve, because I never really had a plan to start out with. But, in the end I'm happy how they turned out because they are a little silly, and they were fun to make.

Like I said before, the second photo was purposefully created because I was teasing my brother about wearing a christmas sweater. The first photo wasn't really planned. I made a series of happy, sad, mad disgusted, and sassy faces to see which ones I like. Granted I was sick so they came out a little funky, but overall they are funny and that's my goal to make people laugh through my images. There's not alot that bothers me in these images, just a few crumbs on the table I wish I wiped off. But, other than that I'm happy with the photos.
