Reflection:

Throughout this quarter in photography, I've learned so much like editing photos, taking pictures with different angles, and so much more! The photos above were all taken throughout this quarter in different albums that you can access under the photography one tab. The first image was my first assignment which was to take picture of anything that relates to the composition and technique definitions. In this photo the main technique was angle up, but there were many other composition and techniques presented in this photo. To take this picture, I crouched and took the lense and pointed it upwards so I could capture the vines climbing up the house. The next two photos, The Ferreter and P.P.S., were taken in the capturing composition with toys tab. To take the first photo I held the toy, Peppa Pig, to the left of some leaves so it looked like he was stalking from the unknown area. The photo was vibrant at first which the theme of stalking clashed with high key lighting, so I took down the lighting and added more shadows to give it a creepy feel. The third photo was to signify silhouette lighting, this one took me a while because when I first started taking photos for this project the sun wasn't low enough for a silhouette so I took about 30 photos of Peppa Pig and the sun making sure that this silhouette was perfect. Luckily enough the sun began to set so I got the perfect lighting, and to make tho photo even better I took the shadows down so the sun light would pour through behind Peppa. The fourth photo, Cutlass, was taken in the textures assignment. The project was to take photos of one texture, which was a little hard for me to do since I like to include a lot of things at once. This photo of the grass was my favorite because the high key lighting bringing out the color of the grass, but most importantly the raindrops laying of the blades of grass was so unique because the sunlight would reflect off of the drops making the photo so much brighter. The fifth photo was also from texture, this one was very cool because of the repetition in the drain. This one was fun to take because since the grass was wet, I had to awkwardly take the photo without getting my white shoes and my jeans wet. The sixth photo, Highway to Skyway, was the result after taking a photo with a lamp post and a highway exit sign in it. The photo was still good with those two object, but at the same time it brought attention away from the road. The seventh photo is placed in the album multiplicity. My brother helped me in this photo, because he wanted to be the "star of the picture". This photo was a long process, I had to take 3 different photos and then edit them in photoshop so they looked like one photo. It took me about 35 min to do this piece, since it was such a long process, but it came out well. The next two photos are in the silhouette album, this entire album is filled with similar photos. But the concept of the colored lighting was so unique that I decided to do my whole project with that idea. It took 3-4 people to help me with these two photos, because I needed two or three people to hold the phones, one person to model, and then counting myself to take the photo. The tenth photo, Gerrrpaw, is in the perspective album. In that album all of the photos were taken during a bad storm that hit Maine and caused a lot of power outages. Luckily, my grandfather was able to clear our drive way so we could leave to stay somewhere else. So I took a photo of him, created the photo black and white and then highlighted him so he was the focal point. Finally the last two were taken in the same album but were more about the emotions I and other were feeling during the storm. It was hard staying somewhere without power and water, so we had to go stay with family, which we are thankful for but it was a stressful process. Overall, I have shown growth in my work since August until now in November.

As I reviewed my work, I'm proud of how I evolved and changed through this quarter. In the beginning, I was honestly doing it for the grades, but now I'm enjoying myself while I take photos. Most importantly so is my family, they have been buying things with my artwork on it to support me and show how well I am doing and I think that shows through my work. There's always room for improvement so I can't wait to analyze my past work vs my future work. So, in order to improve my work in the future I need to set goal in order to become the photographer I want to become. In the next quarter we are learning how to use a film camera, so those are where my goals are going to be set towards.

1.) I want to learn the process of how taking a film can change into a larger photo with chemicals.

2.) I want to be able to learn how a film camera works, since i have no background knowledge.

3.) I want to be able to take print 15 film photos so I can have proof that I've used a film camera and will continue to.

Thank you :)
