Scratch Board

I’m calling this project, Lenny because Lenny was my dogs name that recently passed away. This was Lenny. The subject is a portrait based off my dog that recently passed away. I chose to create this specific work because in honor of Lenny I can keep this to remember him. For materials, I used scratching tools and ink and a paintbrush to paint the ink on. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: Painting and stippling. While creating this work, I paid close attention to shape by making the nose bigger by adding ink to make it look like Lenny was looking at the camera. I wanted my artwork to look realistic and I did that by paying attention to different parts and there size. To add interest to my composition, I used contrast to make the background stand out. I like the way I paid attention to size and I am proud of doing this project for Lenny. However, I struggled with making the nose the size. If I created another work like this I may pay a little more attention to the trees in the background. My work shows that I learned how to stipple on a scratch board .
