Animal Sculpture

I’m calling this project, Falcon because it looks like a falcon. The subject is a portrait based off a Falcon. I chose to create this specific work because I like birds. For materials, I used cardboard hot glue and newspaper and masking tape. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: Carving cardboard and glueing it on the newspaper. While creating this work, I paid close attention to shape by the feathers accordingly. I wanted my artwork to look like a bird and I did that by making the feather look realistic. To add interest to my composition, I used balance by making the bird symmetrical. I like the way my birds feather came out and I am proud of how I added different texture to the head by ripping small pieces of cardboard off and glueing it down. However, I struggled with getting off all the hot glue strands. If I created another work like this I may use less hot glue. My work shows that I learned how to make a cardboard bird.
