Teacher Assistant
Grades 11-12
1 Semester
The purpose of this class is to give students an opportunity to experience working in the field of education. The purpose of a teacher assistant is to provide assistance to the teacher, develop desirable work habits and nurture a sense of responsibility in the students. Typical duties may include working one-on-one with students, creating classroom displays, making copies, or completing other office tasks. Students can indicate if they prefer to be assigned to the elementary or junior/senior high, but should be willing to help at either level as needed.Graded as a Pass/Fail course. Students can take this course for a maximum of 2 semesters. Students must be in good academic standing to register for this class.
Occupational Experience
Grades 11-12
1 Semester
Earn high school credit while you work! This work-based learning program provides you with an opportunity to learn about working and what employers really expect of their employees. This course may be taken during the school day. If the class is taken before 6th hour, the student must return to school for the remainder of the school day. All work environments must be legitimate educational experiences. Mr. Runck supervises these experiences and will make site visits to your work location to check on your progress. Must have the permission of Mrs. Batalden before registering for this course.
Media Event Production
Grades 10-12
1st Semester during 4A
This course introduces students to the basic features of the Dakronics control system equipment & software language. Students will explore objective -oriented event planning, in-game video operations, seamless display operations, and fan enhancements. Typical assignments & projects include producing sports and school spirit related game-day display content, working with community sponsors to create event-related display content, and operating video and Daktronics equipment during sporting events.
Must have earned a C or higher in Computer 9. Must be willing to work at sporting events throughout the year. Talk to Mrs. Batalden before registering for this course.
