Interpersonal & Small Group Communication
Grades 10-12
1 Semester
Students will understand the nature of building effective relationships through the study and development of interpersonal skills practiced in person and through media. Course work will explore why misunderstandings occur and how to build more productive communication. Additionally, students will build problem-solving skills utilizing group dynamics and effective leadership styles. Active and critical listening are integral components of the entire course.
College Literature

This is a College Now class offered through SMSU (Literature 100) with a possibility to earn 3 college credits. This college-level class functions as introduction to diverse literature with
units including women’s issues in fiction and drama, multi-ethnic poetry, and whole- and small-
group novel studies. Students will critically read and respond to literature through class discussion, quizzes, weekly short essays, critical analyses, and other written responses. Students must meet the GPA and class rank requirements listed under "college credit opportunities"
