Physics is concerned with the basic principles that govern the behavior of matter and energy. The nature of force and motion and their applications, gravitation, momentum, energy, work, waves, sound, light, magnetism, and electricity are the main topics studied. Quantum theory and nuclear physics are introduced. Labs are included. There are quarterly, hands-on projects and a spring field trip scheduled yearly. You might not think that physics will apply to your future, but anyone seeking any four-year college degree or beyond, or anyone going into a two-year technology program (think IT, nursing, wind/solar/biofuels technology), will find the topics, the rigor, and the pacing of this course helpful in your transition to college. Must successfully complete Advanced Algebra before registering for this course.
