Värmdö Archipelago Rotary Club has been pursuing a long-term environmental commitment to the Baltic Sea for several years. Now it is planning to create wetlands on Värmdö to reduce eutrophication, strengthen biodiversity and increase knowledge about the importance of wetlands. 

This webinar will highlight the benefits of wetlands and also show you  a concrete project example of how a Rotary club can contribute to build a wetland. The project is just now up and running at the island Värmdö in the Stockholm Archipelago and is called "The Church Bay". 

The wetland project is arranged together with a wetland expert Sören Eriksson and partners as the landowners, the County Administrative Board, the municipality and the local fish and bird organizations.

The Global Grants project is run by the Värmdö Archipelago Rotary Club. The international partner is D1410 (Åland/Finland). Rotarians from eight countries around the Baltic Sea are co-financing as well as TRF, The Rotary Foundation.  Here you can find all the contributing Rotary districts and clubs.

During the webinar you will learn more about both wetlands and Rotary Foundation Global Grants, as a way to finance an important project.

We will present a model created during our project. Rotary clubs can use it in their future projects. The model includes several steps, which will be presented at the webinar. This is the first Global Grants project executed in Scandinavia!
