Getting Your Group Started
Getting Started:
Setting up a group need not be too complicated and does not need a lot of resources. The following might help:
Leadership: Choose one student at each location who will play the leadership role (not the person who will end up doing all the work. The group leader will make sure students within their group are communicating, know what to do, where they can get help. That leader should also make sure they are communicating with your teacher / advisor and the student leader in the other groups.
Seek Buy In: The whole group needs to agree (see Norming) on what they are trying to do (recognising the WHAT will evolve as you go) and the HOW -- which includes meeting times, what information each person is researching.
The group needs to value everyone's contribution and view points.
Start small
Communicate well
Make sure everyone has a role (some may have more knowledge, skill, and/or experience).
When a different language or culture is a part of the group, be patient with those students who might just be learning a new language. Recognise that it might take them a little extra time to understand what you said and to develop an answer to your question.
Have fun: Get to know each other socially (what you like to do (eats, play, music, videos, games, travel, etc.).
Empezando:
