2024 

February -- Rosmini WaterTesting group (Noah, Nico, Quillan, Ethan) agreed to establish 7 water testing locations within the Hiilcrest Stream watershed (see map). To establish a comprehensive stream profile that can be used to monitor the impact of human activity on an urban stream and compare with other streams aross different latitudes.

February 21 - Water testing on the east side of Akoranga Drive. Activity served as a 'dry-run' to establish procedures and possible testing site. Accompanied by Ross Martin (Auckland Council)

Engage with Northcote Intermediate inviting them to collaborate, where they would water test on their tributary and share with Rosmini College project.

Link with Auckland Council and local environmental groups

Link data with the Rosmini estuarine water quality monitoring buoy to be located in the lower reaches of the stream. Link in the future to a stream debris monitoring activity.

Ask Rosmini teachers (geography and biology) to join the project, involving their classes.

March 5 -- Water testing at five sites on the main (north) tributary of the creek.

Learned that y9 science, colaborating with re will water test on Lake Pupuke -- agreed to share results. Year 11 geography classes will utilize our results/data to build a profile of the Hillcrest Strea, from May.  Y13 biology will engage in macroinvetebrate monitoring from May.

March 13 -- Video link with Northcote Intermediate students

March 20 (NS) - Rosmini Water testing group agreed to:

 •Monthly water testing at the six established sites (Tuesdays) -- Need to establish actual dates

 •Tests include pH, nitrates, clarity, temperature, phosphates, oxygen, eDNA, macroinvetebrates.

 •will take multiple samples to establish reliability

Need for other countries to establish the location of their water testing sites and determine if they have access to water testing kits (we will send information on what we have, etc.)

Need to determine protocols/procedures to collect, share and record data, establish effective communications, (shared documents), etc.

•Y13 ESS class will collect water samples at three locations on the Tairua river during their river study project.
