Ms. Gooden started at The Roger Bacon Academy as a first grade student in 2000. She attended through 8th grade, graduating RBA in 2008. Ms. Gooden has now returned to teach at the CCS-Whiteville campus.
Background
I started at RBA in 2000 when the campus was located at Leland First Baptist Church. The school shortly moved to where the Leland campus is today, and I continued my RBA education in grades 1st-8th. I then went to East Bladen High School and graduated in 2012. From there, I attended UNC Pembroke and received a B.S. in Special Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I now have a Master's of Education from East Carolina University.
What are you doing now?
I am now a wife to my husband, Luke, and a mother to my four children, Brynlee, Branson, Ainsley, and Lexie. I have been home with all of my children, but I began teaching again as a first grade teacher, and now as an EC teacher at CCS-Whiteville.
How did your time at The Roger Bacon Academy prepare you for your endeavors?
My teachers at RBA instilled in me a love of learning that followed me throughout the rest of my education. I desire to learn and achieve greatness because that is what was expected of me throughout my time at RBA.
How has your Roger Bacon Academy education shaped who you are as a person and in your career?
At RBA, I was not only shaped academically but I was also shaped morally. As students, our character was held to the highest standard. I was taught honesty, integrity, and perseverance, not only in the classroom but also as a competitive cheerleader. Our teachers and coaches expected the best of us and instructed us on how to achieve that. Because of that expectation, I have only settled for the best throughout everything else I have done in life. I will forever be thankful for my time spent at The Roger Bacon Academy, and how it helped me to become the woman that I am today.
