From the summer of 2018, Roding Valley High School has been running a House System. This year we will be revising the House System to rather allocate each Form to a House. This was done to ensure to further develop and strengthen the various House Competitions
This system allows for more interaction across the different year groups, gives each student a sense of identity and increases ‘healthy’ competition within our school. Each House has a nominated House Captain, a Sixth Form student to act as role models for our younger students. Each student will be allocated to one of the four following Houses:
Colour: Yellow
Named after Sir Winston Churchill, a great wartime leader and Prime Minister. He was a member of parliament for the area for over 30 years.
Colour: Green
Named after Lord Len Murray of Epping Forest. Lord Murray lived in Loughton for over 50 years and is the same person that Murray Hall is named after, He is a local resident, who was a national figure.
Colour: Purple
Named after Sylvia Pankhurst, a campaigner for the votes for women, daughter of Emmeline Pankhurst who lived in the local area for over 30 years.
Colour: Red
Named after Ruth Rendell, a celebrated author who attended a local school, which was one of the predecessors of Roding Valley.
At Roding Valley High School, all students, both boys and girls, are required to wear a school tie that bears the school badge in the colour of their allocated House. You will be informed of your child's allocated House prior to your child's start in September.
The School House Ties are available to purchase from Forest Casuals in Loughton. Please be aware that should your child lose their tie and the school provides a replacement, you may be charged via ParentPay for the new tie.
