Transition Summer School, 2024!

As part of our transition process for our 2022 Intake, we held first Summer School for our September 2022 Year 7 students. Our Summer School took place over a 2 day period, with students being asked to attend camp from 9am to 3pm and best of all, there is no charge to the parents.

We also ran this in 2023, and we are pleased to announce that we will be running a third Summer School in July, 2024!

Over the five day period our new Year 7 students experienced secondary life early, we set a timetable that will allowed them to experience key subjects like English, Maths and Science, alongside many other enrichment activities. All activities were led by our teaching staff, who encouraged them to participate in activities that challenged them both physically and mentally, allowing them develop both their interpersonal and academic skills, and build friendships with the other children in their Year group, thus making their start to the school in September a stress free experience.

“My daughter really enjoyed the summer school, a few activities she found a little difficult to understand and she wasn’t entirely clear on staff names; so perhaps some extra emphasis on who is who at school might have helped. She thoroughly enjoyed the PE/Art/Drama activities and had no issue undertaking the tests that I understand the children undertook. The reward scheme was fabulous, three certificates for various activities really gave her such a sense of achievement and inclusion already! As a parent I am very grateful for this opportunity, it must have been difficult to arrange given the current pandemic! I genuinely believe that this experience will aid her transition in a huge way as my child is quite a shy child”.
