Chromebook Initiative

At RVHS, we really value the need to promote excellent digital skills for our students. We have recognised that to become successful, independent learners, our students must be given more opportunities to develop their technological skillset. To support this, we will be running a 'Chromebook' initiative for this year's Year7 cohort. We believe that using Chromebooks will empower our students to become well informed, responsible digital citizens and lifelong learners.  Once our students have access to their own devices, we firmly believe the scheme will bring enormous educational benefits.

This exciting initiative will involve ALL Year 7 students being strongly encouraged to purchase a Google Chromebook from RVHS. This Chromebook will be used during lessons during our whole school 'Digital weeks' (several throughout the year) to enhance learning and support online assessment. Students will of course be able to use their Chromebooks to support their home learning provision; as Google Classroom works perfectly with these devices.  Please click the link here to view further information about our Chromebook Initiative.

What is a Chromebook?

A Chromebook is a kind of laptop computer, running Google Chrome as its operating system. The device is used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and data residing in "the cloud". Chromebooks differ from a normal laptop in that a robust ‘device management system’ allows for strict monitoring of use, internet filtering and other vital e-Safety restrictions whilst in school.
