The Nature and Needs for the Gifted Learner Course is one of two graduate courses required for Gifted and Talented endorsement. The course will be offered virtually September 4th-October 2nd. This course equips educators to cultivate, support, and assess thinking in their classrooms. It is designed for all levels and content areas. Through applied cognitive strategies, dialogic practices, and performance-based planning, participants will develop tools to make student thinking visible, foster intellectual engagement, and measure growth in problem-solving and reasoning. The course will be offered September 17, September 25 (asynchronous), October 2nd, October 6th (asynchronous), October 16th, October 23rd (asynchronous), and October 30th. Those who successfully complete the course will earn 3 graduate credits. If interested, please complete the course interest form by September 3rd.
The Effective Classroom Management Strategies course focuses on best practices in classroom management that meet the diverse needs of learners who are included in the general education classroom. Knowledge about and experiences with diverse learners is applied to support the success of all learners, including those with exceptionalities. This course will prepare educators to feel confident as classroom managers and help them know their professional responsibilities not only on the first day of school, but for the entire school year. The course is open to all K-12 educators. The course will be offered face-to-face September 11th- December 4th. Those who successfully complete the course will earn 60 renewal credits.
