RVHS requires 29.5 credits to graduate. By graduation, students will have earned at least 19 required credits and 10.5 elective credits.

Registration Planning By Grade
Welcome to RVHS! Registration is often the first step into the realm of high school. As 9th graders begin to select their course work, we encourage students to not only plan for their first year of high school- but to consider building a four-year plan.
Students in 9th grade are required to earn 1 credit of English.
English 9 OR Accelerated English 9
All 9th grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of Freshmen Academy, exploring a new content area each quarter.
Students should follow the recommendations of their current math teacher when determining which math course to select.
Intermediate Algebra OR Advanced Algebra I
All 9th grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of PE 9.
All 9th grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of World History.
All 9th grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of Science 9.
Freshmen can take 2 credits of electives to take during the 2025-2026 school year.

During the Sophomore year, RVHS students begin to explore and learn more about their interests and future plans. Take time to plan not only what classes you can take this school year, but review what prerequisites are required for classes you may want to take in the future.
Students in 10th grade are required to earn 1 credit of English.
English 10 OR Accelerated English 10
All 10th-grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of Health 10.
Students enrolled in Algebra I should take Geometry. Students enrolled in Geometry this school year, should plan to take Algebra II.
Geometry OR Algebra II
All 10th grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of US History.
All 10th-grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of Biology. Talk with your current Science 9 teacher if you are considering taking AP® Biology.
Biology OR AP® Biology
Sophomores can take 3 credits of electives to take during the 2025-2026 school year.

During the Junior year, we encourage students to strongly consider future plans when selecting courses. The best way to prepare for life after high school is to ensure you have a strong foundation of skills. Students are encouraged to continue to plan not only what classes they can take this school year, but review what prerequisites are required for classes you may want to take in the future.
Students in 11th grade are required to earn 1 credit of English.
English 11 OR AP English: Language & Composition
Students enrolled in Geometry this school year, should plan to take Algebra II. Students currently enrolled in Algebra II should plan to take one of the RVHS Math Electives.
Algebra II OR Math Elective
ll 11th grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of Geography.
Geography OR College Geography- students interested in this course MUST meet the College requirements to enroll.
All 11th-grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of Chemistry. Talk with your current Biology teacher if you are considering taking Honors Chemistry.
Chemistry OR Honors Chemistry
Juniors can take 4 credits of electives to take during the 2025-2026 school year.

Students in 12th grade are required to earn 1 credit of English.
English 12 OR College English- students interested in this course MUST meet the College requirements to enroll.
Students are required to enroll in credit of Speech. RVHS students can take this course as either 11th or 12th-graders
Workplace Communications OR College Speech- students interested in this course MUST meet the College requirements to enroll.
All 12th-grade students are required to enroll in 1 credit of Government/ Economics.
Government/ Economics OR College Political Science- students interested in this course MUST meet the College requirements to enroll.
Seniors can take 5 credits of electives to take during the 2025-2026 school year.
