RASD will continue to partner with Minnesota West Community and Technical College in offering classes for students and adults alike. RVHS students are able to enroll in these courses, earning both high school and college credits. In addition, training and certification fees are paid for by Redwood Area School District for RVHS students.
The courses offered at the Orrin S. Estebo Center are open to community members. Currently, we are partnered with the Private Industry Council to assist in enrollment and scholarships for eligible adults.
Nursing Assistant is a three credit class designed to prepare students for entry level jobs in nursing homes and other health care facilities and introduces concepts of basic human needs, health/illness and basic nursing skills.
Skills are demonstrated in a supervised laboratory setting and in a clinical environment. The nursing assistant will be able to perform tasks that are related to patient/resident care and support to nursing care. The clinical experience in a nursing home is included.
This course is designed to prepare one to successfully complete the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Certification Competency Examination and be able to apply for the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.

Being cross-trained may enhance your career in healthcare. This 48-hour course meets Minnesota requirements for medication administration. It will review information required for unlicensed personnel to administer medications while under the direction and supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse. Legal and ethical issues related to medication administration, body systems and medications for each, administration of non injectable medication and required skills will be presented. This course will have 3 “in-classroom/lab” dates with the remainder of the class done online
Class will be a hybrid course with 3 face to face meetings and online coursework.

This is an introductory course allowing students to receive training in providing care during medical emergencies.
Students completed coursework for 10 weeks with a final written and skills exam at the end.
Introduces the initial foundation of emergency care and scene safety. Prepares individuals to evaluate and identify emergencies, employ their knowledge, psychomotor skills and application of those skills to provide basic life support as an Emergency Medical Responder. Includes initial patient assessment and comprehensive prehospital care as outlined by the most current educational standards identified by the Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board, the American Heart Association’s BLS CPR for Healthcare Provider standards and DOT standards.

RVHS will be partnering with Minnesota West of offer a CDL Prep course.
Students must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license to take the Commercial Learner Permit Written Knowledge Test to get the Commercial Learner Permit. The Commercial Learner Permit is valid for 180 days and allows the student to practice driving with a person that has a commercial driver’s license.
This course prepares the student for the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) written knowledge permit test.
A printed Minnesota Commercial Driver’s Manual is provided with this course. There is no driving included in this course. Hands -on behind the wheel driving training is delivered in a separate course after the student has a valid Commercial Learner Permit, a Minnesota Driver’s License and a DOT Drug & Alcohol test.
Minnesota Requirements: A commercial driver license (CDL) is required in Minnesota to operate vehicles that weigh more than 26,000 pounds, vehicles that carry more than 15 people including the driver, and vehicles identified as school buses, or carrying hazardous materials.
To obtain a CDL in Minnesota the student must pass the written knowledge test to get a commercial learner permit; learn and practice the driving skills to take the Commercial Driving Road Test for the Class A Commercial Driving License. Additional tests for endorsements such as school buses, or vehicles with air brakes, and vehicles transporting hazardous materials are also available.
