Eubert

Eubert is a powerful Virides plant mage and Ascended Being who heads the Vine League and has the unique ability to turn creatures into Viven.

Powers

Eubert turns people into viven, spectral forms of the creatures they once were, who carry potted plants that they control and use to interact with the physical world.

Ascension

Eubert grew up in a small village in the woods -196RMU. She was a gifted magic user from a young age, and took a particular interest in plant-based magic. When she had found that she had learned all she could about magic where she was, she embarked on a journey to explore and study other environments.

Five years later she returned home to see that a forest fire had destroyed the woods entirely and killed everyone she knew and loved. Not only was everyone she knew dead, but the forest seemed as if it would never grow again. In a desperate fit, she commanded the tiny seedlings attempting to grow in the ash to suck the nutrients and lifeforce out of the bodies of the deceased. The seedlings instantly contorted upwards at her command, and she shaped them into trees, each one a sort of memorial for a loved one she'd lost.

She continued living in these woods, attempting to restore what once was, eventually reaching old age and nearing the end of her life. Before dying she prepared a spell that would allow seeds to feed on her lifeforce after she died. As she lay there on the brink of death, her spell took hold prematurely. The seeds around her feasted upon her energy while she was still alive, pushing her into a realm between life and death. Now a translucent spirit, she and found that she was unable to interact anything in the physical world except for the tree that grew from what once was her body.

Because the tree was the only thing she was still able to touch, she carved a pot from its wood and scooped dirt inside, where she planted a seed from the tree. Eventually, a plant grew inside it, which she found she was able to control. She was then able to move through the world using the potted tree's vines and branches as appendages.

Word of her condition spread by travelers and she began to attract followers. She taught her followers how to manipulate the vines the way she does. When her first follower, Damiel, was on his deathbbed, she cast the spell she used on herself on him, and he became the first viven.

Her community continues to grow to this day. Each of her followers, when they near death, have this spell cast upon them. It is rumored that she will now cast the spell on healthy young followers who demonstrate a strong control of plant magic.
