Follow the directions below to create your own plaster mask.
Make a plan. Draw on paper the mask you want to create. The more detailed the better.
2. Gather materials.
A mask form
Small cut peices of plaster
Scrap paper to go under your work space.
A small container of water.
Note: Keep your plaster away from the water until you are ready to use it.
3. Dip a rectangle of plaster in water and use your fingers to squeeze out the excess water. Apply the strip to the edge of the mask form and smoothing it out to activate all the plaster.
4. Continue applying plaster in overlapping strips all the way around the mask form. Activate and smooth all the peices you apply.
5. Fill in the rest of the mask that hasn't been covered yet in the same overlappping way, incuding eye, nose and mouth holes. We will cut out what is needed later.
6. Reapply plaster in a ring arould the outside of the mask form like you did originally in step 4. This is for strength.
7. Fill in the rest of the mask layering the plaster in a different direction than you did in step 5.
8. Let you mask dry. This is the base on which you will build your design.
