The first thing we do to play D&D is to create our own character that we will play as.  I always find it helpful to have an image in my head when I do this.

You are going to decide what your character will look like today and draw it.  You may use reference images.  You may even trace somethin, but you need to make it your own some how.  Here are just a few example of character I have drawn over the years.
