Fanschool is a safe and social learning network. It’s where students build learning blogs by engaging in reading and writing. It’s how teachers help students create portfolios by simply publishing and playing. Families are able to participate in the learning as well if the blogs are made public to share.
Moderation tools
Safely publish student work. Teachers can create games, challenges, and give feedback within a community of authors. Articles can be public, and teachers can moderate all activity.
Authentic audience
Empower students to publish for a real audience. COnnectw ith other teachers, students, and organizations down the hallway, across your district, or around the world.
Individual profiles
Document learning. Student profiles become portfolios that demonstrate growth year-over-year. Students feature their best work and see who they're becoming.
Now it is time to get started and plan your Fanschool assignments for your students!
What project/unit of study can you create for students to post their own articles as their work product? This work will be done over the course of three weeks. Your students will be writing and posting 3 articles - one article a week, for 3 weeks. They also have an opportunity to comment on one another's articles throughout the weeks.
Once you have created your Space, let's post and share so we can all get ideas from one another!
First, please open this document and share the link to your Fanschool space: Fanschool Space document (we will use this document throughout the rest of the class to be able to get to one another's spaces)
Second, after you have filled in the document above, please start a post and include the following information:
How do you plan to share your space/articles with others? Who will you share with (your school, families, community, media)? How will you share?
Now that you have your activity and posted to get feedback from colleagues, it's time to use it with your students!
As your students work through your activity, collect the artifacts of their work. Remember, you will want to include:
Taking pictures or videos of students working on the activities
Gathering links and screenshots of students' work
You will need to share these artifacts in the next assignment (Classroom Implementation Discussion).
