Parachute Investigation

Learning about parachutes is a real DRAG!!!

Our classes had a lot of fun learning about how parachutes work, and how going the slowest sometimes actually wins the prize!! We used a STEM parachute kit from Flinn Scientific Canada called Egg-Streme Parachuting, which can be found using this link: https://www.flinnsci.ca/egg-streme-parachuting---flinn-stem-design-challenge/ap8060/. The kit comes with a teacher guide and materials for your class to use. We also combined this challenge with our 'Build a Lander' activity in the Perimeter Institute Activity Guide for learning about Space called "Mission Possible". These activities work hand in hand to provide hands-on learning for both space and flight units for Grade 6! In the far left picture, the students actually used a 3D printer to print their lander carrier box, so even more can be combined with this activity!
